Dearly Beloved,

I have come here today to talk about this thing called Shoe Retirement.

Retirement of these here running shoes, and I’m here to tell you…

They’ve served me well.

They stuck with me through grass, dirt and puddles, and of course on concrete and asphalt–day and night.

But things just aren’t the same anymore…

In fact, there are just too many irreconcilable differences.

Difference #1: THE TREAD IS WORN DOWN – When I look on the sole, I see that the tread is worn in the middle. Although the lack of tread is bad…this is actually a good indication that my running form and biomechanics are pretty well balanced.

Yay, me!

Oh! But back to the differences…

Difference #2: MY FEET DON’T FEEL GOOD IS THESE THINGS – There doesn’t seem to be much cushion in them anymore, so it kinda feels like i’m running on flat tires.

And…

Difference #3: THEY JUST DON’T MOTIVATE ME THESE DAYS – The novelty wore off months ago and I’m just not excited to put them on anymore. My mileage is way down and I need a motivation boost…
