Hey Athlete,

You know that speed is everything in football. Every action on the field is a race to the ball and the end zone. So if you have goals to make the team or win a specific position on the team, I highly recommend that you work on your speed now.

Here is a checklist to help you get started:

✅ Build Up Biomechanics

The first step to running faster is to address any muscle imbalances and weaknesses in your body with corrective and foundational strength exercises. The primary goal of these exercises is balance, more so than power.

By building up your biomechanics, you will get faster, stronger and more durable, which is crucial for success on the football field.

✅ Find Fastest Running Form

Learn how to make your running form more efficient, so you can stop wasting energy that you could be using to go faster and attain your true top speed.

Seek out resources such as videos or a coach who can help you analyze and improve your running form.

✅ Supercharge Speed Muscles

Your speed muscles help move your legs quicker and produce more power off the ground. So strengthening them is a critical step in boosting your velocity.

Steep hill sprints and explosive jump programs are great ways to target and train these muscles.

✅ Master RUN FASTER Mindset

A strong and consistent mental game can expand your physical abilities.

Practice success-driven self-talk and visualization techniques that can help you push through pain and fatigue and get the most performance out of your body at any given time.

✅ Plan 40 Time Goal & Training

Clock your current 40-yard-dash time and use it as a baseline for your current speed. Then set a new 40-yard-dash time goal and follow a sprint training program that helps you achieve your speed goals and get in shape for football camp.

✅ Inspect Running Gear

If your shoes are raggedy, so is your play. So make sure your shoes and cleats are high quality and in good condition.

Check for any holes and wear and tear, and replace any worn-out kicks before camp.

Use this checklist to give yourself an edge on the football field. By focusing on your biomechanics, efficient running form, speed muscles, mental toughness, sprint training, and quality gear, you can become a faster and more explosive player.
