The Summer Olympics are here and the Olympic spirit is upon us! So let’s have fun with it!
Since running is the foundation for many Olympic sports, let’s show off our running skills and how they make sports more exciting and enjoyable.
I am officially challenging you to complete a decathlon of Olympic events by the last day (August 8th, 2021 at 11:59 p.m. PDT) of the Tokyo Olympics.
Here are the 10 events:
Baseball/Softball: Sprint from home plate through first base
Basketball: Sprint lines on a basketball court
Gymnastics: Run into a cartwheel or round off
Hurdles: Run and jump over something
Track: Sprint 100 meters
Marathon: Run and drink from a water bottle or paper cup
Soccer: Dribble a ball
Tennis: Sprint the baseline and to the net
Triathlon: Pretend swim, bike and run
Volleyball: Bump and set a ball while running
Bonus event: Weightlifting – Do explosive squats with weights.
(While weightlifting does not involve running, it does help athletes become more durable and run faster.)
Film yourself doing each event and tag GreenRunner (on Facebook) or GreenRunnerLA (on Twitter) or GreenRunnerLA (on Instagram) with #GreenRunnerOlympics.

If you film and complete 10 or more events by August 8th, you will reach gold medal status and have a chance to win the grand prize, a $100 Dick’s Sporting Goods gift card.
If you film and complete 7 or more events by August 8th, you will reach silver medal status and have a chance to win a $50 Dick’s Sporting Goods gift card.
And if you film and complete 4 or more events by August 8th, you will reach bronze medal status and have a chance to win a $25 Dick’s Sporting Goods gift card.
