HERE ARE TWO DIFFERENT KINDS OF RUNNING PAINS: GROWING PAINS AND INJURY PAINS…
But do you know the difference when it comes to your body?
Growing pains come from pushing your body out of its comfort zone…
These can come in the form of breathlessness, burning, cramping, and/or soreness…
Oh…the joys of running…
Why do we do this again?
Anyhoo…
Growing pains are actually kinda cool because they usually indicate—GROWTH!
Oh yeah…now I remember why we do this running stuff…
With proper rest and recovery, growing pains usually resolve themselves pretty quickly…
BUT injury pains require more care and attention because they usually indicate—SOMETHING IS WRONG!
That’s why it important to know the difference between a growing pain and injury pain…
Because contrary to popular belief…pushing through injury pain is not determination—it’s SHORT-SIGHTED…
If you have injury pain from running…there is an underlying problem in your form, and/or your functional strength, and/or your training regiment…
The key to your strong comeback is figuring out the root of the problem quickly and addressing it immediately.
Comment below on whether the pains you felt on your last run were growing pains or injury pains and what you are going to do about them…
Cheers to running healthy,
