Recently a sports kid and his mom both looked at me with surprised eyes and repeated back to me “only one session?!” 😳
I had just told them that he had one training session remaining from his package of eight.
He has made a lot of progress with me over the past two months and he still has quite a bit of room for improvement.
With only a few days before school lets out, I asked his mom, “What is he planning to do this summer?”
Now even though it isn’t any of my business…
It is my responsibility to ask.
As his RUN FASTER coach, I’ve watched him figure out how to get his body to work with him more than against him… 💪
I’ve clocked his crazy new PRs (a.k.a. personal records)… 🏅
And I’ve even seen his stoic demeanor give in to a flash of a smile here and there (Shh! Don’t tell him I noticed)… 😉
He’s had some major speed breakthroughs…
And there is still a lot of growth and confidence to go.
One of the biggest lessons the pandemic has taught us is—routines matter—especially for sports kids.
So I am asking you, sports parent…
“What is your sports kid doing this summer?”
I too have some vacation plans…
But for the most part, I am available for get-in-shape, get stronger and get faster training when you think it’s a good idea ; )
Cheers to your sports kid getting faster this summer,
Martise : )
