Every now and again, I’ll be working with a new client—a strong, ambitious woman who’s ready to run faster—and within the first few strides, I see it.
Her chest is bouncing violently with every step.
And I stop the session. Immediately.
Not because of her form or her effort, but because she’s clearly running in the wrong sports bra.
If you’ve ever experienced breast pain during or after a run, or you’ve felt your chest jumping all over the place, hear this: your breasts should not hurt when you run. Period.
The Bounce Test
One of the biggest barriers for many women in sport, especially those with larger chests, isn’t a lack of motivation or fitness. It’s discomfort. It’s pain. It’s bras that don’t do their job.
I’ve coached countless women who’ve told me they “just deal with it,” assuming that pain and distraction are part of the deal when you have bigger breasts. But that’s not true. You’re not supposed to adapt to pain—you’re supposed to eliminate it.
The Panache Revelation
Every time I see this issue, I recommend the same thing: the Panache Sports Bra* (they cater to sizes DD and up).
And every time, the feedback is the same: “This changed everything.”
One of my clients recently told me,
“I can do the jumps in my ballet class now.”
She’d been skipping those moves because of her breasts—not her skill, not her fitness, but her discomfort.
That one piece of gear didn’t just make running more enjoyable; it gave her freedom of movement she didn’t realize she was missing.
Comfort Can Also Be Power
Here’s the thing: women are conditioned to tolerate discomfort. From heels that hurt our feet to bras that dig, bounce, and bruise, we often just adapt, assuming that’s the way it is.
But it’s not.
You deserve to move without pain.
You deserve gear that supports your power, not restricts it.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and while much of the conversation centers (rightfully) on prevention and health, it’s also a reminder of this: Your breasts deserve care, attention, and respect—on and off the track.
If you’ve been avoiding running, jumping, or high-impact workouts because of your chest, I want you to know there’s a solution.
Try a high-support sports bra, like the Panache*, and rediscover what movement is supposed to feel like: strong, secure, and free.
Because being brazen isn’t about ignoring the pain.
It’s about demanding better.
Stay brazen,
Martise : )

P.S. – If you’ve found a sports bra that changed your experience with running or fitness, I’d love to hear from you. Comment below. Let’s share what actually works for real women’s bodies.
Because when we stop adapting to unnecessary discomfort and start running toward what feels right, that’s when we win.
